Doing a gathering, refining, or crafting action also grants Specialisation XP for that node, tier, or family. The grant is the action's base cycle in seconds, not its Skill XP, and account XP bonuses do not apply. Homestead stations do not. The Specialisations guide explains which actions share a track.
At level 100 the action's cycle is 25% shorter after your skill and tool speed. Copper specialisation speeds only copper. Cooking families share one track, and higher tiers fill it faster. Tinkering Tools and Tinkering Jewellery each have a separate track per metal tier.
Farming specialisation raises that crop's harvest. The 15 minute, 1 hour, 4 hour, and 8 hour cycles stay fixed. A harvest grants Specialisation XP from the length of that cycle, so each hour a bed is planted counts the same. On a garden of six to eight beds, one crop takes a few weeks. Farming level, your shovel, and compost add harvest yield instead of shortening those timers.
